Councillor Juliana Heron

I started my working life as a nurse.  I left to have my family - married to Bob and have three children - Juliana, Emma and Glen.  I have two grandchildren, Jake and Ciaran.  I became political during the miners strike in 1984/85 as an active member of the Eppleton Miners Wives Support Group.  When the strike ended I became involved in various voluntary organisations e.g. Victim Support, Age Concern and recently until its closure, Racecourse Community Access Point of which I was Chair.  I was co-founder of the Coalfield Forum which has now evolved into Vounteer Network.  I am a school Governor of Houghton Community Nursery of which I am Chair and have recently been awarded excellent by Ofland Eppleton Academy.
