It’s an honour to be elected to serve the residents of Shiney Row Ward and previously served the residents of Washington East Ward since 2012, I'm married with grown up children and understand the pressures on families living in our community, I'm currently working for a Shiney Row based Charity as a welfare/ debt advice worker and feel I can bring some of my skills into my role as a local councillor.
I've served as a school governor of over 20 years and I am currently a governor at Barmston Village School but I also have experience within the secondary sector. I have also ran my own business and worked with young people as a business ambassador. I have extensive experience in the finance and employability sectors.
In my spare time I work with Washington Mind to deliver courses and empower people to make better financial choices, this is important to help people build confidence & resilience as none of us ever know what is round the corner, I'm also a Volunteer at Washington Millennium Centre.
For May 2019 – May 2021 I have had the privilege of serving The city of Sunderland as Mayor , raising funds for Veterans in Crisis Sunderland and Washington Mind, I would like to thank everyone who helped me in my fundraising efforts.
