I have lived in Washington all my life, and in Columbia for over 25 years. This area is where I grew up, went to school, made life-long friends and raised my family. It is a town that I am proud to call my home and will be proud to represent as an elected member of the council.
I have been a Registered Mental Health Nurse for 20 years in the NHS. This has allowed me to see first-hand things that can impact on both individual and community wellbeing such as education, employment, security, safety and the cost of living.
I am also really passionate about our local communities and our heritage and am actively involved in Washington Pit Banner Group and help to look after Washington Glebe Pit Banner.
Our area has so much that is strong and to be proud of and I want to help ensure that our area is the best place to grow up and grow old in.
As Washington Central Councillors myself, Dianne Snowdon and Linda Williams hold Ward Surgeries every second Saturday of the month (except July and August) between 10.30am and midday at Columbia Community Centre, Oxclose Road, Columbia, NE38 7ET. However, we are always happy to be contacted via email or telephone if any resident needs help, support or guidance.
As your City Councillor, the council’s data protection policy applies when I am carrying out council business. This explains your data protection rights and who to contact if you have a query about use of your data; https://www.sunderland.gov.uk/data-protection
