While I had four very enjoyable years representing the people of St. Chad’s, my main base for politics in Sunderland has always been St Michael’s ward, where I have lived for nearly 65 years and been a Councillor since 2014.
Currently I am a member of the Economic Prosperity Scrutiny Committee and also sit on Planning and Highways. Like my two St Michael’s ward colleagues, I am part of the East Sunderland Area Committee.
In addition, I serve as a trustee of both the George Hudson Charity and the Sunderland Orphanage and Educational Foundation, while I am also a member of the St Michael's Community Centre Management Board.
Housing and planning have been two subjects of special interest to me as I worked in the housing profession for over 40 years.
Away from local politics my main hobby is football, having actively supported Sunderland since the 1959/60 season. I have also, over many years, seen countless professional football matches in both Scotland and throughout Europe.
I am also part of the Sunderland Old Township Heritage Society and have helped to organise the Annual Victoria Hall Disaster Memorial Services.
